2025-2026 Committee and Section Information

Nominating Committee

Chair:  Torey Davenport

The nominating committee is responsible for recommending to the BOD potential candidates for service on the KCBA BOD in compliance with the KCBA bylaws.  

Social Events Committee

Chair: Jason Machnik

Regular Meeting Time: Fourth Thursday of every month at noon

The social events committee is responsible for planning and executing social and networking events for our members, including, but not limited to: Annual Golf Outing; Barrister’s Ball; Annual meeting/Law Day; Growlers Game/Kwings/etc.; Fall Fest Welcome Reception; Other social events

Speaker Series Committee

Chair: Ben Herbert

The speaker series committee is responsible for planning and executing educational events for our members and planning Law Day events (coordinating with social events committee on whether annual meeting will coincide with Law Day)

Pro Bono Committee

Chair: Jason Colvin

The pro bono committee is charged with defining and executing the KCBA’s pro bono efforts, including, but not limited to: establishing relationships with other pro bono entities in the community, determining the best KCBA involvement for expungement clinics, KPL clinics, probate/family clinics and making a recommendation to the BOD, exploring new pro bono opportunities, discussing how to show cause opportunities for volunteerism on the KCBA website

Memorial Service / Swearing In Ceremonies Committee

Chairs: Judge Scott Dales

Regular Meeting time: 

The memorial service and swearing in committee is charged with planning and executing the memorial services twice a year (in coordination with the relevant courts), as well as the swearing in ceremonies after bar results are announced.  

Budget Committee

Chair: Mike Oliphant

The budget committee must present to the board the proposed budget no later than the June 2026 board meeting.  The June board meeting will be utilized as the annual budget meeting.

Young Lawyers Section

Chair: Adam Ostrander

The Young Lawyers Section plans events and oppourtunities for young lawyers in the county to socialize and receive mentorship from more senior members of the bar. Some events include service opportunities, social events, and lunches with the judges.

Probate and Estate Section

Chair: Lana Escamilla

The Probate Section of the KCBA will plan a calendar of events that includes pro bono clinics, educational programming, and social events

Family Law Section

Chair: Allison Greenlee-Korr

The Family Law Section of the KCBA will plan a calendar of events that includes pro bono clinics, educational programming, and social events
